Interesting. Why don't men wear something? Why is it that the women are subjected to this? maybe if a logical meaning can be found that appeals to this generation women then they might reconsider ;-) By the end of this bargain we men folk might have to sport something similar ;-)

Men wear Sacred Thread or a chain around their neck or a ring ! :)

Married women can choose to wear it or otherwise and I think this is a sign of convenience/preference, not necessarily an intention to disrespect the thali or the institution of marriage. In the first place why should one wear the thali 24x7. People created systems of convenience and people are altering them today. I see little harm in that. I believe that one should use his/her discretion when it comes to matters such as this. There is no necessity to sound like a moral police, is there?

Also, with your reply to Malesh, are you suggesting that a ring can adequately compensate a lady not wearing her thali?

Fantastic picture btw

Maangalyam is like a driving license. It's something for the society :)

Do u carry ur driving license around all the time ;-) And how many of us truly abide or drive by the rules inspite of having one?

I carry a copy of my driving license, lol ! I'm not against women not wearing the thaali BTW

If a ring could compensate for the thaali, good enough !

On lighter note thali does sound like the lunch thali!!! guess there is bit of everything to have when u order one or go for one;-)

with regard to the DL, do u get to renew it after 20 yrs or does this work differently ;-)likes comes with a shorter renewal date ;-)
