In the last 6 months, I've had the privilege to meet up and also through twitter & Flickr, see the works of various professional photographers in Chennai & in other parts of India. I've been bowled over by the body of work and the skill involved. All this certainly inspired me and forced me to dig up various photographs that I took in the last 10 years of my career at sea.
I currently use a Sony Cybershot DSC P-10. Yes, It is a Point & Shoot Camera and I'm more than happy with the results it has produced.
